ELEVATE YOUR MUSIC
Being hatched in New Orleans, I had music infused into my DNA. The rich culture of the city and its history of jazz and zydeco cemented the free-flowing spirit of my creative musical projects. Music always calmed or excited me; it was never just background noise. I grew up listening to a lot of different genres and appreciate all of them for their creativity. I started playing instruments when I was given my first Casio synthesizer. I soon acquired 11 different synths and built custom racks to house them all. I’d spend hours learning every riff/loop I’d heard and tweaking them out as much as possible. Then, I picked up a trumpet in middle school and starting my OFFICIAL education into music. I learned most brass instruments and dabbled in drums. Then hip-hop found me. I can vividly remember the first time I heard Newcleus’ “Jam On It”. It was music I had been waiting my whole life to hear, I just didn’t know it yet. And for some time after that, if it wasn’t rap, it was crap to me. Buuuuut I eventually I became open to all good music and it all became part of my everyday playlist. I then bought my first set of turntables and, suddenly, I could play ANY instrument, in some regard. I could change tempos, pitch, make loops and even completely reorganize compositions of work. The freedom is mind-blowing. I now use all this knowledge to change the rules and kick open doors musically. Mixing genres into mash-ups is what I love to. Excited about the future and what it holds for an imagination that is constantly reaching out for new possibilities. Facebook.com/DJElevateYourMusic
